Remarks: ID BY SMITHSONIAN, FAA 2325. BIRD CONDITION REPTD AS LOW BY TWR. SAW A FEW SMALL BIRDS ON OF CENTER OF RWY. IMMED POST LIFTOFF I HAD TO REMAIN LOW TO FLY UNDER SEVERAL BIRDS WHICH WERE ABOUT 20' IN THE AIR. ONCE PAST THEM I STARTED A CLIMB, RAISED GEAR AND FLAP AND SAW ABOUT 50 MORE SMALL BIRDS ABOUT 2000' AHEAD AND AT ABOUT 120' DIRECTLY ABOVE THR RWY. I MANEUVERED THRU THE LESS DENSE PART OF THE FLOCK AND DID NOT SEE, HEAR OF FEEL ANY IMPACTS. AT CLIMBOUT CONTD, I SAW MORE BIRDS AHEAD AND TO MY LEFT AND EVEN THOUGHT I DID NOT FEEL THEY WERE A THREAT I STARTED A SHALLOW TURN RT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE SMITH-3 DEPARTURE. AT THIS TIME WE HIT A BIRD THAT NEITHER OF US SAW.
