Remarks: THIS WAS A SINGLE PILOT REPOSITION FLIGHT FROM BLOOMINGTON IN TO LAFAYETTE IN TO PICK UP PAX AND RETURN TO BLOOMINGTON. WEATHER CONDITIONS IN LAF WERE SCATTERED TO BROKEN CLOUDS AROUND 1400 AND 2500 MSL WITH VISIBILITY AROUND 3 SM IN LIGHT RAIN. ON BASE LEG VECTORS FOR THE ILS 10 AND WERE AT 2300 MSL (ABOUT 1500 AGL) AND GOING 230 KIAS. ABOUT 4 NM FROM THE FINAL APCH COURSE AND 12 NM FROM THE ARPT, STRUCK SINGLE BIRD ON THE RADOME. STRIKE SIGNIFICANTLY DENTED THE RADOME. DENT RESEMBLED SHAPE AND SIZE OF A SOCCER BALL DEPRESSING THE RADOME ABOUT 2". IT WAS ESTIMATED THAT THE BIRD WAS A DUCK. BIRD GUTS AND FEATHERS SPRAYED OVER THE NOSE AND ON BOTH WINDSHIELDS, CENTERED ON THE PILOT'S SIDE. RADAR CONTINUED TO FUNCTION BUT WAS SHUT DOWN SHORTLY AFTER AS A PRECAUTION. FLIGHT CONTINUED TO LAF W/OUT ANY OTHER INCIDENTS OR INTERRUPTIONS. DAMAGE FROM INCIIDENT WILL REQUIRE THE RADOME TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED WITH AN ESTIMATED COST OF $10,000 TO $20,000 AND 1 WEEK OF DOWN TIME.
