Exposition Park

Exposition Park can be found at University Park in Los Angeles, California. It is across the street from the University of Southern California. At Exposition Park visitors can see Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Memorial Sports Arena, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, California Science Center, Exposition Park Rose Garden, California African American Museum, EXPO Center, and Expo Park Farmers Market. The park is open to the public and was created to offer cultural facilities to the public. The park began with 160 acres. Before the site was a park it was an agricultural fairground. This was between 1872 and 1910.

In 1880 a man named John Edward talked with Mr. Ozro Childs and Governor Downey. Downey persuaded the state to purchase the 160 acres to create the park. It is in the south section of Los Angeles. Not long after buying the park land the University of California was built. There was a racetrack at the time. However, the city's families didn't appreciate the gambling or racing, so the park created the Rose Garden. Eventually, several museums and other cultural attractions were created to add more to the park. The Expo Park and USC Station is under construction. It will bring residents to the park.
