MOAS - Museum of Arts and Sciences


MOAS - Museum of Arts and Sciences is located at South Nova Road in Daytona Beach, Florida and is approximately a one hour drive from Orlando. This is the primary arts, science and history museum in Central Florida and has over 30,000 objects in a 100,000 square foot building. It opens 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. It remains closed on Mondays except when a public holiday other than Christmas Day falls on that day.

The permanent collection here includes American, Cuban, African, English, Chinese, Continental and pre Colombian art, decorative art and paper. There are also fossils amongst the collection including a 13-foot tall Giant Ground Sloth as well as crystals, gems and minerals. Visitors will also see photographs and other items giving an insight in to the history of Florida.

From Tuesday to Saturday the Planetarium has presentations detailing what can be seen in the night sky as well as a laser show for children. The museum is situated on a 90-acre site with a nature preserve that can be explored by way of boardwalks and nature trails as well as an education center. The museum and the outdoor space can be rented for private parties, weddings and meetings.
