San Francisco Oyster Fest

Each year San Francisco holds their annual San Francisco Oyster Fest. This festival has been going on for 11 years in downtown San Francisco, California. The fest is often held in the middle of May around the 15th. It is a weekend festival allowing residents and visitors to take time to enjoy a variety of different entertainments. The festival is a benefit for various charities like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Gates open at 11am with the first shows starting at 12pm.

Shows include cooking demonstrations, shuck and suck competitions, oyster history, and oyster pairing room events. Kids under 14 are free to enter and tickets are $30 for all adults. Tickets can be found online or at the entry gate. McTeagues Saloon, All Bay Pump, Skyy, Guinness, SF Station, Future Bars, and many other companies in San Francisco advertise and help put on the Oyster Fest each year.

Parking is available at Marina Middle School, which is located at Chestnut and Filmore. There are also many bicycle parking areas close to the main entrance. Drinks, food, and live music is all part of the festival, as are some souvenir booths with shirts, jewelry, and other objects one might want.
