The Upham

The Upham Hotel is considered the oldest continually operating hotel in Santa Barbara and southern California. It was built in 1871 and has never closed its doors. The inn is a country style home with bed and breakfast offerings, as well as the full Upham Inn. Both properties are within walking distance of each other and a short drive to Santa Barbara downtown. It means shopping, the historic district, beaches, Santa Ynez wine country, and the Channel Islands can all be reached from the Upham.

The Upham is very modern with its amenities ensuring visitors have internet, business facilities, full baths, bath essentials, fireplaces, and flat screen televisions. Added to the modern conveniences are the cozy 19th century surroundings with gardens, redwood verandas and much more. Many find the Upham to be the American Riviera. All told the hotel has 58 rooms and conference facilities for business guests.

Rates vary from $199 to $475 per night based on the size of the room or suite. The most luxurious room is Master Suite Jacuzzi with Fireplace for $475 a night. Each room has its own décor with antique furnishings, giant post beds, and windows overlooking the property.
