  • Cameron was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Rita in 2005. All of the facts about that town from before the hurricane are now changed - the population is mostly relocated to the north and most of the buildings were destroyed. The town is now in the long process of rebuilding - it may be a very long time before things are back to "normal" in Cameron and other coastal communities in that area.
