John Barnett had worked for Boeing for 32 years, until his retirement in 2017.
In the days before his death, he had been giving evidence in a whistleblower lawsuit against the company.
It said the 62-year-old had died from a "self-inflicted" wound on 9 March and police were investigating.
The article said he was "giving evidence run a whistleblower lawsuit against the company". That sounds like a very stressful situation that could have overwhelmed him. Or it could be something else.
That is unfortunate. He is not the only Boeing whistleblower, but there aren't so many who have had the courage to come forward. And one of the common threads from them is that management simply stonewalled them when they brought concerns of excessive workloads, being forced to cut corners and resultant poor quality. Those managers aren't going to tell that to the FAA, that's for sure.
I'll reserve judgment until the investigation is finished. What a terrible coincidence though. If there's more to it, I certainly hope that the folks investigating are brave enough to push onward until the guilty parties are brought to justice. The public deserves that much.

It also says he retired 7 years ago on "health grounds" but I guess it's easier to jump on the 'Blame Boeing' bandwagon than to actually wait until the facts are known.
Wow. Sure sounds like Boeing pulled a Clinton on him
And he probably chose to do something very unusual and shoot from back of the head forward, and then back of the heart forward! He must be a world renowned magician to do this after the head shot!!
