My husband and I are going to be visiting the area this August for about 6 days. Driving down from NY.
We plan to do some sight seeing as well as checking out the area for a possible move to Tennessee in a few years. I wanted some restaurant recommendations and points of interest we should explore. 2 restaurants we do want to try are Bridgeman's and the purple daisy picnic café. Thanks!

I’m no help with restaurants.

If you like these sorts of things:

1. Google “train rides in Chattanooga “ as they have more than one.

2. There’s also the aquarium which is about a lot more than fish.

Thanks we plan on checking out the aquarium and the Zoo. May also do one of those ghost hunt tours.

Checkout the Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar, right on the river. Great restaurant, great view. If you like Chicken, Champies is the place to go!
Downtown Chattanooga there are many excellent restaurants that you "Park and Walk". It is a great town!

Plenty to do in Chattanooga. Downtown Aquarium. For train try Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. Has daily trips & weekly excursions. Go to the website for schedule & tickets. Also do Lookout Mountain Incline. For civil war buffs Lookout Mountain is must see. Ruby Falls , Rock City nearby.

Plan your trip with website visit & discount coupons.

Driving from NY places to see along I-81, then I-40 into Knoxville, I-75 into Chattanooga. I-24 takes you back north to Nashville. Take your time on Monteagle Mountain grade on I-24.

I have been told by a few people that I really need to try Sugar's Ribs the next time I visit Chattanooga.

In addition to the recommendations above, the River Boat cruise from the Southern Belle Riverboat is a fun experience.

We had a great time on our trip. If you want good BBQ got to Chatts Smoke house. Excellent. We drove from NY to Chattanooga. We decided to leave a day early drove as far as Roanoke VA Stayed over night then next morning drove the rest of the way to Chattanooga. Love the inclined railway and Ruby falls. Downtown was very nice and very clean compared to NYC. Everyone was so friendly. Just though I'd report back on my visit.

Thanks for the follow-up report. Always good to hear a first-hand impartial review.
