I need to get a trustworthy cleaning lady for a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment. Anyone have any suggestions? Merry Maids is like $150 bucks... can't believe it.

Not to let you down but it sounds like you are needing quite a lot of cleaning done. I have gotten quotes for myself with basically the same thing... 2br/2ba. It all depends on what you are wanting cleaned. I wouldn't expect the price to drop that much unless you find someone that will do it for you personally. If you know a friend that needs the cash maybe bring up the fact you need someone to do weekly/bi-weekly cleaning and ask how much they would charge if interested. You will help a friend at the same time.

eh, it's for a tenant of mine or I would just clean myself (had some work done and the place was left messy so I offered to get a cleaning lady). It's really just dusting, mopping, cleaning baseboards/window sills.

I use Helena Polish Cleaning Service. Prices are less than what you quoted but they might only go in the suburbs. They have a website if you google. I'd google Polish cleaning services.

Are you looking for someone to come in just one time? If so, then it makes sense to me that the price is higher than if you were having regular service.
I use Spotless Cleaning -
Chicago Maid Service, Evanston Housekeeping, Commercial Cleaning, Janitorial Services Chicago - and I'm happy with their service. They clean our house once a month for $200. The initial cleaning was a little more since we had just finished some remodeling and the house was particularly dusty. Based on what I pay, $150 does seem high for a 2 bedroom condo; we have 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and about 4000 sqft. I do think we're getting a really good deal though.
