Just noticed today that all my folders, including the network drive attached to the router, defaulted to Read Only in the Properties dialog box. I'm logged as Administrator (W11). I can uncheck the Read Only box and click Apply, and it appears to change the property. But when I close the Properties box and open it again, it reverts to Read Only.

There haven't been any changes to my hardware or software recently, other than adding a new mesh node ASUS router. Could that somehow be the cause? If not, am I missing some universal setting to override the properties? I'm kind of stumped at the moment.

Go to SETTINGS and Security and search for RANSOMWARE. There's a setting there that locks down all your files just like this.

Thanks. That seems to be the problem. I just wonder what changed in the past day or 2 to cause it to happen.

Assume malware. Run some clean up programs to be safe.

That was the first thing I did. They came back all clear.
