Because Federal tax credits will end as they sell more. Same for state and power companies rebates. Also no additional charge for road maintenance on registration that also will end as more and more people get them.
If you live in a smog check state and have an older car smog checks are going to get harder to pass.

Over the past 6 months, the market has slowed a little bit and prices have fallen as manufacturers have dropped prices to try to keep their unit sales up, so yes, not a bad time.

All electric EV's will gradually slow in sales. The new types of Hybrids coming out, will be the way to go.

Depends on where you live. Here, you'll get a bill for a few hundred dollars when you get a license plate to make up for the gas tax you're not paying. Don't know if you have to pay additional for the added weight - I suppose weight class is part of the basic registration cost.

What does “way to go” mean? I for one would never buy a car that requires time wasting stops to fuel outside of my garage every so often on my 200 mile work days which are currently accomplished without stopping, ever.

Most EVs, that aren't pickups or the stupid Hummer, don't weigh really all that much different than regular cars. Tesla Model 3s (https://www.caranddriver.com/tesla/model-3/specs) identical or even less than BMW 3 series (https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/3-series), and less than 5 and 7 series, which don't have any weight class issues. My EV weighs 3600 lbs, which is about the same as a CRV (https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/c...-v_2024/442871) or a Camry (https://www.edmunds.com/toyota/camry...eatures-specs/), and THEY don't have any weight class issues.

So maybe, like a few other people here, you need to listen to what we've been posting here for years.

NJ is ending its positive EV environment very soon. Has me thinking about jumping on a Rivian now before the tax breaks go away. The only problem is that for roadtrips, they still don’t have the NACS port. I’m not buying another brand until they do.

ALL car sales have dropped off a bit and the average price of new cars has dropped this year from $48k to $44k, as inventories are getting back to pre-pandemic levels. Has nothing to do with EVs, as EVs with lower prices are still setting sales records.

Oil companies are pushing the hybrid narrative hard right now, as they know it's the only way that people are going to keep on buying gasoline. But hybrids are more complex and costly than pure ICE OR EV.

Here in Washington State EV drivers pay $100/year for road tax, and we have no smog tests at all any more.

If you're buying a new one might want to take advantage of those tax rebates before they are all gone. If you're buying a used one, I'd way until summer. The bump from tax rebate season will be over and the used car market is oversaturated with EV's.
