France is now the world's first country to enshrine abortion rights in its constitution on Monday, in response to threats to reproductive rights around the world.

People struggle with "rights". Rights are protections from government over reach. France it seems didn't really change anything. At will abortions are legal up to 14 weeks. That is still the case. Here is a good lie headline from the NY Times.
"French Lawmakers Enshrine Access to Abortion in Constitution" You can't guarantee access. That would mean putting a gun to the head of a doctor if they refused to do an abortion.

Only the gynecologists and obstetricians can perform D&C. So don't point the gun at the wrong doctors.

It does change things. Once part of The Constitution it cannot be changed by parliament by a simple vote. I doubt if any doctor would be forced into performing one. There would surely be clinics for this purpose.?

Good on France for transcending politics on this matter and enshrining it as a right to a French citizen to have an abortion at will.

Good to see a country which brings Constitutional rights first and not forcing religious beliefs on "we the people"

It's good and all but it feels very performative, like they are trying to show everyone that France is much more progressive than the US.

One would think that in 21 century there are other means widely available to replace the barbarity of the procedure if procreation not desired.
As humanity we need to do better in this respect

I understand that in case of gestational abnormalities that could be the only option; however it shouldn’t be dispensed as a contraceptive

To enshrine it in the Constitution of the country seems excessive.

What other medical procedures are going to be in the Constitution?
The right to have your head examined?
The right to the transplant?

Wish that powers that be stayed out of doctors-patients interactions
