Am gifting these two identical CZ75 Compacts to my two sons, and the Ruger Max 9 to my granddaughter’s fiancée.
Plus two boxes of range ammo each (Federal American Eagle & Norma)…
They need to be registered immediately in the names of the new owners or laws will be broken.
That depends entirely upon STATE laws since there is no Federal law that requires that. I rather doubt that Texas requires gun registration, but I'm not certain of that.
I'm also assuming that the giver and the recipients all live in the same state of Texas.
Technically not a gift, but my son came home from grad school for Christmas and announced he wanted my S&W model 13 (FBI 3"). Oh well- there goes that one.
My initial comment was based on a 2022 law that required persons inheriting guns upon the death of their parent to immediately register the guns in their own names. But that was for a state that required gun registration anyway.
But it does seem a bit scarey that guns don't need registering and children can potentially play with them. Parents need to be thorough in their discussions with the kids, but maybe the kids friends will borrow just to play.
We had capguns as children, and playing cops and robbers was fun.

Registration and minor's access to firearms are two completely different topics. Minor's could access a firearm bought from an FFL if the owner is a moron and leaves them out where they are accessible.
