End of an Era, Beatty Street Grocery closing after more than 80 years (live)

Nothing to do with Jxn or crime, the owners are simply retiring. If you have ever worked DT, you are likely well acquainted with the eatery. No idea how they got that much grease in everything they make, but it was all delicious. Enjoyed a final fried baloney sandwich today.

Nothing screams MS like Beatty Street. It closes on Friday.

I so regret having never been there - and having never heard of the place. It looks WONDERFUL!

Grease, by the way (at least animal-derived grease) is now being proven a GOOD thing (and actually PROTECTIVE). Here, one of my favorite Beardporn Daddies, Ivor Cummins, discusses Cholesterol. So, for all you folks still in Mississippi: eat all the meat you want - as greasy as you want it (just steer clear of the vegetable oils/seed oils/PUFA oils). Minnie in 'The Help', may have been a wonderful character. You better hop on the next plane to Jacktown and get a taste! You got two days. The waits were crazy today, two-plus hours. No restrooms and don't leave anything valuable in your vehicle.
