We are relocating for employment. Mainly working from home.
We are thinking of renting for 6 mths to a year until we get to understand the area .
Please recommend a safe area to rent . We love nature walks and bicycle rides . Also love sports bars / restaurants .
Budget up to 1700 myth for a really nice place .
Thank you

$1700 in Louisville is more than enough to get a great place (and you can easily come in under your budget if you’d prefer as well).

The Highlands is the most recommended neighborhood. It’s very safe, very walkable, urban, has restaurants, shops, etc...and nearby parks. Bardstown Rd (in the Highlands area) has a ton of bars as well.

The East End is another recommended, safe area. Very family friendly, with a lot of restaurants, malls, shopping, etc...

Jeffersontown IMO is a very “underrated” secret in Louisville. It’s basically part of the St Mathews area, very safe, affordable, family friendly, with a lot to offer.

NuLu near downtown is a great area as well, near bars, restaurants, nightlife, etc... Honestly, just avoid The West End and you’ll be pretty much safe in most areas. Louisville is a very safe city overall.

You could even venture across the river into New Albany, Indiana which is very “up & coming” and you get a lot of bang for your buck, while only being 10 minutes from Downtown Louisville. Has a lot of great bars, restaurants, etc...Plus you avoid the toll if you go over the 64 bridge.

I need to know where OP is coming from, where they will work, and general likes/dislikes (urban? suburban? rural? etc). Do they have kids? Are they married? Neighborhood recommendations depend on alot of this

With the brief description given, I basically recommended the usual nice, safe areas around Louisville.

We had a quick move to this area around the holidays and chose New Albany. We love it! Renting for a year to get our bearings, but are really enjoying it so far. Good luck on your search!

New Albany is where I lived before I Moved to California. I grew up in Floyd’s Knobs (right up the interstate) but really loved New Albany.

The downtown has done a ton of work over the years and it’s fonally starting to gain some great recognition and traction, hope you keep enjoying it!

New Albany is booming! Now got nominated (along with Jeffersonville) two of top 90 "small towns" in America...hopefully it wins. All the pleasure of a historic small town while being inside a major metro area.
