Don't live in Louisville, but did see the news today. It is not pretty. And the news was asking what could be done....
Simple, take all the guns away.
I am from the Netherlands, there are on average 123 murders a year. There live 18.000.000 plus people, 30 times more than Louisville.
In Louisville about 630.000 had 172 killings in 2020.

They blame everything, but not the firearms......

A human is pulling the trigger. There are probaby 400,000 firearms in Louisville that didn't kill anyone.

That is an NRA slogan. Firearms kill. What if I attack you with a hammer. You can run away, or punch me.

Why spend your money on something you never use?????

I'll chime in.

I don't own a gun. Don't plan to either. A gun is an inanimate object. It is a harmless object unless it ends up in the hands of the wrong person. A person has a mind and can decide if and when it should be used. People that have a bad moral compass use a gun or for that matter a knife, club, tire iron, mace or any other object that can also be used for defensive purposes in an offensive manner. Ultimately the problem with the shootings rests with the lack of good values on the part of some people that own them. Many of the criminals that use guns for crimes possess ILLEGAL guns that they either stole or possibly bought in the black market trade. Some are bought legally but many are not.

Sweden. My family is from Sweden and some of them migrated to the USA during the Depression of the 1930's. Most still remain in Sweden. You can own a gun in a private household in Sweden. Sweden's cities don't have the crime rates that most US cities have and that is because people have been taught how to properly use and store guns. That was also the case in the USA prior to it becoming a country during Colonial times and the formative years of growth.

Simply put. The problem is with some bad people getting their hands on guns and using them for unacceptable purposes. Banning guns won't solve the problem either. It was tried in NAZI Germany and other totalitarian countries and look what happened?

I'll shut up and see if anyone else is dumb enough to argue with you.

4 minute read.

This theory has been repeatedly debunked and refuted. German citizens as a whole were not disarmed by the Nazis, but enjoyed looser gun restrictions than in previous years. There was no lack of guns in the country, and if German citizens had wanted to use guns to revolt against the Nazis they could have, but they didn’t.

It was a simple question. Only here have many people firearms. I did not call anyone dumb.

This has become a gun control debate instead of a discussion about the area. If you want to continue to discuss this take it to P&OC.
