No foul play suspected. It sounds like some kids witnessed it.

saw this yesterday. That's crazy. I assumed it was two people who decided to kill themselves...but now hearing that it was a woman who dropped a bag after falling and a guy on a bike tried to help and they both got hit by the train? Just weird.

i was on a commuter train a few years ago and someone got hit. It was pretty horrifying but I remember people on the train were laughing about it which was even more horrifying. Joking about the situation. Scummy people.

I remember reading about a training program for railroad engineers on a commuter line, and I think it was New York but it's probably typical. There was a class of trainees, and the instructor said "On the average, over the course of your career you will kill three people. If you can't face that, it's time to quit now."

Railroad trains are dangerous, everyone ought to know that.

They're dangerous but usually when someone is hit by a train it's because they jumped in front of the train.

It looks like it happened near a blind bend. I assume it's pretty loud, though.

Why does this keep happening? Why are people on the tracks? I don't get it.

That's definitely one (big) reason, sure.

But rails and right of ways are popular shortcuts for pedestrians, places where kids/teens go to not be seen, places where homeless people set up encampments, places where drug users go to use out of the sight of others, etc. There's rarely ever a good reason for someone to be on the tracks or right of way (it's illegal to begin with), but not all are there to take their own lives. I'm not sure what the woman was doing, but in this particular instance, it appeared that one of the deceased died trying to get her out of the way.

Oh yeah, I've heard there might be an homeless encampment somewhere in that area.

Homeless or not, most people know how to get out of the way of an oncoming train. Unless they are mentally ill or on drugs it's hard to understand how this could accidentally happen to any adult....unless it was on purpose
