What are some of the funniest movies of your branch that enlisted in the same branch found hilarious?
I was Navy in the 90s. Hot Shots, a Top Gun parody, was among our favorites. Another is Down Periscope. I know there are many more, but these two stick out for me.
Full Metal Jacket - overall not a comedy but the acting and quotable zingers from Gunny Hartman (R Lee Ermey) are just so spot on for those of us lucky enough to experience Marine Corps boot camp with a sense of humor.

Yep some dark comedy perhaps. I went thru Marine Corps bootcamp in San Diego in 1966. Many of the scenes were realistic for what bootcamp was like back then. Ermey was actually a drill instructor when I was there. I believe he was a Corporal at that time. Bootcamp was reduced from 13 weeks down to 8 because of the Vietnam buildup.
Saw a new one just yesterday. Well, a really old one, but new to me. It was actually based, (in part), on a real sailing scow that was loaned by New Zealand to the U.S. during WWII. Not really "funny", but had a lot of comedy in it. Stars Jack Lemon and a very young Ricky Nelson, (who sings a number in the movie). Wackiest Ship in the Army.
When Oddball and his tank crew rolls into Kelly's Heroes
