Curious how that is progressing? Are most residents in favor? This seems like quite a blow to personal freedom so it seems a bit surprising to be floated around in Montana.

Personally I don't support the communist Chinese, and all the tic toks I've ever seen were just some millennial or gen z loser looking for fame or at least to have someone look at them, to try to gain relevance that they can't get from their real lives.

Not a fan of social media, and I don't care about somebody that can't dance making a fool of themselves for millions to have access to.

If tic tok wasn't a front for the chicom's to gain access to people's personal information, and to gather intelligence about how to best perpetuate propaganda to divide and destroy the US, I might feel differently, but in the face that it's contributing to the degradation of our country, I don't have a problem with it being banned.

Is it an infringement on personal choice and freedom, yeah, probably, but honestly, it doesn't affect me in any way, so I'm taking a page from the liberals and not caring about infringement on that personal choice, just as they don't care about the Constitutional protections of things like Religion, Free Speech, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and the right to Life since they also support killing children.

There're bigger issues out there than some idiot on the computer.

Besides, it's an unenforceable law, so like most legislation, its perception over actual substance.

I suspect that a sizeable portion of the population in this state really don't CARE, because they have never used TIK TOK and likely never intend to.
For those who do use it, be advised that there are very likely similar online resources readily available for your use, so your "Freedom Of Speech" has not been stymied, IMO.

The "blow" to personal freedom is TikTok, not the Montana state government.

A bit paranoid aren't we? Only one response and the words liberal, propaganda, and communist had to be thrown around. So predictable with any conversation. What about grooming and indoctrination? Is that going on too?

It's common knowledge that Tik Tok is under the control of the Chinese government. ALL Chinese companies are under the government's control or they're not allowed to exist.

Knowing that, AND knowing that there are multiple other social media outlets for the same thing that Tik Tok provides, gives me the assurance that no one's personal freedoms are being affected. This is from a person with Libertarian leanings (except for the foreign policy part).

I say good for the state of Montana. My state of South Dakota has banned Tik Tok from all government activity. I would like to see SD follow Montana's lead with a total ban as well.

I can say that my children, both gen Z and both well educated, feel it is an affront to personal liberties. One has Tik-Tok the other does not. Coupled with the various assaults on personal liberties they are both very much engaged in routing the far right out of office in this state.

So why do you post on here? You espouse all this ‘wisdom’ of living the ‘Montana redoubt way’ which is laughable (laudable). Losers? Hmm.

This is social media.

Maybe you should get banned?

The ban is a joke. It won't survive a first amendment review.

More political theater and 'feel good' legislation. There are more important things to work on here in MT.
