Twenty-two Collier County hotels and motels have been named in a lawsuit that alleges owners and property managers did nothing to stop blatant sex trafficking.
As a result, the plaintiffs — two local women identified only by their initials, S.Y. and C.S. — suffered physical and mental pain at the hands of their sex traffickers, according to the lawsuit.
Two Naples attorneys, Sharon Hanlon and Yale Freeman, filed the lawsuit in October then amended it in December to add the majority of the hotels and motels as defendants.

Prostitution should be legalized so it can be regulated, workers can report crimes, etc. It's already available everywhere, been around since the beginning of mankind... legalize it and regulate it. Many countries have some form of it already legal, there are just restrictions on banning pimps, brothels, advertising.

Why would we do that? That makes no sense!!!! We need to keep cigarettes legal, keep feeding the population unhealthy processed foods, and make sure the majority of people stay dependent on pharmaceutical drugs!!

Why would we want to produce a regulated industry around a natural endorphin releasing biological urge and behavior??? That makes zero sense.

I was surprised to see the Inn of Naples on this list, I have stayed there and it seems very nice...I guess I will stay elsewhere next time I pop in for a quick visit.

I wouldn't not stay somewhere just because it made this list. Obviously wandering around on Heroin is awful, but I'm sure its mostly just saying 'these places were used for sex'. If you really think about what goes on in hotels, you wouldn't stay in any of them.

But regarding prostitution, it happens in the most luxurious of places too. I'm sure the pimps cleaned up in Miami/Broward last weekend, even at fancy places like Fontainebleu or Doral. (I worked at Doral for 2 years before Trump bought it and then 6 months after he did, there was plenty of wealthy people staying there throughout my years with 'scantily clad' women stopping at the front desk looking for a building. But anyone who looked distressed, we always tried to help)

Regarding actual sex trafficking, if the hotels looked the other way then they should be shut down. Seeing people on drugs, strung out, and not helping is abominable. I've seen it first hand in my personal life and I'm a huge proponent of helping people addicted to drugs/opiates. However, I can say from hotel experience that its very difficult to get the police to do anything on your property unless they are harming another guest.

We had a famous young person staying at Doral once and he had a mountain of cocaine in his room and had our room service server put his tray right on top of it. There were pills everywhere too. We notified security who called police and were told they can't just enter his room and arrest him because 'he was in the privacy of his room'.

I.e. He was rich and we're not going to make a scene, so keep delivering his food all week.

This. Consider what has happened since porn was legalized.

Can you elaborate? My comment back in February was a little over the top lol. I still stand that it should be legalized. The more control over the industry the safer things can potentially be.

not to mention, we're not talking about prostitution. prostitution is consensual. trafficking is abduction.

I read horrific things that happen daily. I am not desensitized to it all but really, as you already know, crime is to be expected virtually everywhere. Two blocks down from me...a trucker pulled over and blew his brains out. Down the street, drug deals all the time..block down..McMansions and kids outside without being monitored.

Affluent area.

The world is what it is. I say, choose your battles. Mine isn't sex trafficking and crime investigation, but to each their own.

Xiao! xx
