Are there pockets in Nashville proper where more conservative-minded people tend to live/hang out?

The conservatives tend to be in the outer sections of the county. Bellevue is an example. You have to look at TN house districts or TN senate districts to find them. Could talk about council member districts outside of the central city.

Are you talking about classical conservatives (let's go to church and keep all our money an investment account conservative), or new breeds (let's wear a red hat and invade the national capitol conservative)? Major difference in Tennessee. The former will be in wealthy suburbs, the latter will be further out into the countryside.

This is True!!! Nashville proper is not really conservative at all. It's more liberal, left leaning city wise. Outer suburbs and rural parts of the state is a different story.
