In the past, I heard a claim there's some people in the federal Witness Security Program living in Rio Rancho. I don't remember the exact words the person used but the gist of it was there are more than a few in Rio Rancho. Is that true?

According to the TV program of a decade ago, In Plain Sight, that was made here.

Aren't they everywhere? Sounds like urban legend.

The TV show was probably responsible for that idea. I live in RR and I'm not in witness protection -- really, I'm not.

They would not be heavily located in one place. There might be a couple in RR or ABQ or Los Lunas or Bernalillo or Edgewood.

In the olden days when Rio Rancho was new that was probably true (early 1960's), it is the only thing that explains all the angry New Jersey people living there and complaining about everything. But they are all over now. And there is an FBI office in Albuquerque and all the FBI offices handle people in wittness protection. I think they are everywhere. If someone witnessed a crime in Albuqueruqe, they are probably moved to Seattle or Miami just to be as far away as possible. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it.

The FBI does not handle witness protection. It's the U.S. Marshal Service.

Now that is a crackup. Poor NJ people stuck several miles outside of tiny ABQ back in the 1960's. I'm visualizing Joe Pesci and Marissa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny) wandering around 1960's Albuquerque pining for their home 'hood. Well, that's certainly understandable!

I stand corrected. Thanks. I like to learn at least one thing every day.

Well the ones I ran in to back then were not as nice as Joe Pesci and Marissa Tome.
