Does anyone here know McClusky, ND? Live near there or been through there recently? I was wondering how self sufficient it is. How good are the stores and supplies they keep there? I spent half a lifetime running a general store in a rural area, We tried diligently to stock what the town needed without driving 50 miles away. How efficient is McClusky today is my question. Thinking of moving there. McClusky looks like 70 miles to Bismark, too far for regular staples.

I’m somewhat familiar with that area, as I was traveling near there just last week. It’s a very rural ND town, with around 400 residents. McClusky has a small grocery store, bank, and gas station/convenience store. There’s an agricultural complex on the north side of town with a grain elevator. That’s about it in McClusky.

Thank you for letting us know, do you remember if there was any type of hardware or industrial co-op?

The agricultural complex mentioned earlier is a co-op. McClusky does have a small hardware store. You could probably find any essentials needed right there in town.

There are other somewhat nearby towns up toward 1,000 population. What they have that would add to McCluskey I don't know but maybe some.
