A friend of mine who lives in Destin claims that for some reason the Destin area doesn't get hit by hurricanes as often as other areas in the panhandle or gulf. Is that true or just his wishful thinking? Thanks

Wistful thinking. The Northern Gulf Coast is very hurricane prone and Destin gets a lot of tropical cyclones passing through. However the area of maximum damage in a hurricane is often pretty small and the area has been lucky not to get an eyewall in recent years like many adjacent areas have.

Thinking of moving from Florida east central coast to Pensacola, is this a good move? Cost of living? House prices?
