am 32 year old woman moving to Philadelphia with my husband and 3 years old son, my husband is going to study in temple university. we found and apartment at lynnewood gardens in Elkins Park, I'd like information on safety, public transportation access to temple university and child care .
in neighborhood scout lynnewood gardens has a security level 13 being the safest 100!
how reliable is the info from neighborhood scouth web page?

if you have any recomendention about a nice and safe neighborhood suburban style i would apreciate the information

I would be hesitant about taking an apartment in Lynnewood Gardens. While it has supposedly been renovated, the neighborhood has had perennial resident issues.

I believe there are apartments close to the Melrose Park train station that might be more amenable as well as providing a smoother commute to Temple.

this forum information is from 2011. just thought i would help some ppl with a first hand review. i am a resident here and it's completely safe (as of 2024!!) It used to have more or less not the best name, but if you look at recent reviews, it's a very well run community. Very happy to live here and feel totally safe! the community has lots of proactive safety measures and it's quiet and suburban like and i have many friends. There are really cool amenities and my neighbors are all very happy.

Lynnewood Gardens is located in Cheltenham Township, which is in Montgomery County. Would appreciate it if people on here would stop prefacing “moving to Philly”only to list places outside of the city, sometimes 40 minutes away ie West Chester. Small pet peeve.

I had heard that Lynnewood Gardens had been revamped in recent years. Glad to receive a first-hand account of it!
