I am out in California, I never heard of the place, that said it may or may not have a strong local reputation.

I live in Sacramento. In Sacramento, Sacramento State University enjoys a fine reputation, but in Massachusetts, I seriously doubt anyone has heard much about it one way or the other.

Schools with strong local reputations are fine if you are planning on staying in the area, but might not help you much if you leave the area where people are familiar with the school.

Second, I would actually go talk with some people who graduated from the school and get some feedback on whether they thought the cost and time involved in getting the degree was worth it.

In California, a lot of the therapy is being done by people with Masters degrees and not doctorate degrees. It costs the students less money to get the degrees. They are often provided by state colleges charging lower in state tuition and these graduates are under pricing people with doctorate degrees.

For young people looking to eventually get married and start a family high student loan balances often create problems with buying a first house and starting a family.
