Thinking about retiring to Fernley, NV. It appears that Fernley doesn't have 24 hour medical care available. I also don't see anything about emergency transportation to Sparks, NV. etc. Would appreciate some information!!

Lon,
Don't have any real information for you than to say you're 30 minutes away. As long as you're okay then Fernley is for you. We go through there a few times a year and it seems nice and quiet.

It looks like EMT/ambulance services for Fernley are provided by Lyon County. See: https://cityoffernley.org/164/Ambulance-Fire. There are also local senior transportation services for medical appointments provided by the county. If you visit Fernley, stop into the Senior Center and ask about this. We've found Senior Centers are usually could sources of info for retirees interested in an area. Ive only driven through Fernley once some years ago, but it looked like a really nice community. Good luck with your retirement plans!

Is the critical term 24 hours?

Looks like a lot of options during standard hours.

I haven't checked all links for 24 hours but appears likely they are done by 7pm.

If critical to your decision, ask the hospital and / or ambulance service directly about protocol.

Also consider Fallon.

It has a local hospital there and a veterans hospital.

It's a nice location because the river flows through it, lots of green and you are not dealing with Interstate 80 issues.

Fernley is cute, but again...it's got major trucking traffic, massive warehouse and factory builds and growth issues...etc. Also, if buying a home with a well, check into the water table and canal issues, conversely, look into flood insurance for some areas...as far as I know, this has not been settled.

I am not familiar with ambulance services, but I'm sure you can contact the chamber of commerce or other pertinent agency and get more answers.
