I was looking for new market rate ownership housing in Rochester proper. Based on a quick search of real estate websites, I am having trouble finding urban style housing in the city. Everything looks like suburban development. Does anyone know of any sources that follow new housing construction in Rochester.

Are looking just for townhomes or are you open to condos as well?

It does look like there are a couple of available townhomes in the Corn Hill neighborhood just SW of Downtown.

There is a fakebook site. I believe it is Rochester Construction Watch. The VH Lang building on south Ave is undergoing renovation. There is a 3 unit townhouse development which just broke ground on Union st. near Broadway.

Maybe it's just that most urban units are rentals.

I see stuff for sale on East Ave, quite a bit in the high rises.

I suggest you hook up with a broker, who specializes in the type of housing you are looking for. Sometimes they will have inside information.

Thanks for the suggestions. I would be open to a condo, but prefer to townhouse or at least something with outdoor access.
