We bought our lanai stuff at Wal Mart! They have a Better Homes & Garden collection that looked great, and cost a fraction of everything else we saw at the speciality patio retailers. We've had it 3 years now, & its holding up well. I had to assemble it, but it was easy. Its dark brown woven vinyl that simulates wicker, in a boxy shape w/ tan cushions. The cushions are mildewing now after 3 yrs, but they are cleaning up nicely.

For inside stuff, I can't help you...we buy high-end stuff for inside. For high-end lines, we use Bacon's Furniture near the Port Charlotte Mall. They have the brands we like, & interior decorators to help.

Try to avoid ordering custom furniture if possible...its taking 4-8 months to get most special-made custom upholsered goods right now. Try to buy basic stock goods instead. We bought 1 custom pc of upholstery at Bassetts and it only took 3.5 months.

If I were to buy mid-level priced stuff, I'd buy it from Haverty's. Yes, its mostly made in China, but they are pretty solid when it comes to delivery and service, & they have the stuff built w/ decent quality materials, from what I've seen. We bought 4 upholstered bar stools there 3 yrs ago that have held up nicely.

If you want to buy "Made in the USA", then La Z Boy is the way to go. Most (not all) is domestically made.

For appliances, we had good experiences with Jessup's off Venice Ave.

Small tables(entry table, nightstand, etc) for various parts of the home plus various chairs, artwork and accessories are a great deal at Beall's Outlet in Venice. This particular location in Venice has a larger selection of small furniture pieces than other Beall's Outlet stores.

Homegoods also has a nice selection of small pieces (small tables, chairs, etc), accessories, lamps, artwork. Always crowded.

We bought some furniture for our home in Nokomis (2nd home originally) at Elephant’s Trunk resale in Venice on the Island
Some at other consignment shops
Got great vintage Dixie white rattan bedroom suite from 2nd hand furniture on 41 in S Venice—
Had to clean it off really well because it came out of smoker’s house—(use a battery operated toothbrush to save your elbow grease)
Some off Craig’s List
But mattresses and upholstered furniture we bought new—some from Furniture Warehouse, Hudson’s and Rooms to go…no bedbugs

Mattresses at Macy’s sale and they held them for a month or more before having them delivered after we took occupancy because we had the interior painted after we closed—we bought them in TX and they were delivered to Nokomis from a Macys warehouse around here
Good prices and we could try the various ones out at local Macy’s

Home Goods has rugs and some tables/lamps but just depends on what they have in stock

There are many second hand furniture/consignment shops because of number of seniors in area and estate sales
So the style and condition can vary a lot

Elephants Trunk resale on Venice Island is closing, and auctioning off the last of their inventory soon, so better hurry. I've looked there ~6 times, but the furniture looked way out of date to me.

Some of the consignment shops in Sarasota have nice stuff.

We've been all over the place recently. We've got a home in Sarasota and are not there year round. After several places a couple of weeks ago, we bought a couch at Ashley, which was totally fine and I think that store is reasonable. BUT...then we went to Rooms to Go and I wish I had gone there first because it is a super reasonble way to do a whole room or several rooms. I can't recall what they do for outdoor.
