If you watch the New Years' Eve from Time Square, you know that Puerto Rico was given five times representation by Dayanara, and it felt great. I have spend most of my life in New York City, because, at least here I can eat...........no one knew we existed. And my heart was, often, broken. Now, that all the Trillionaires are moving there, I am happy to see that at least people will eat. Regardless the reason behind it, people will get jobs and be able to eat.......and get a good education.
I used, as a small child, to wait under a mango tree waiting for a mango to drop, not old enough to be able to think that the mango could hit me on the head and kill me...........eventually, my family was able to leave, for NYC, and I began to gate educated, finally achieving a PhD., in Clinical Psychology........it took me nine years to get............but no one was stopping me............my mother-in-law used to say,: She wants to become the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, and we use to laugh, because I was so determined..........but it has payed off..........
Now, I feed all the birds and the squirrels, own a house over one-and-a- million dollars, and I am still married to the same man, who has been and is a great man. We Have lots of trees in our property.......but, the final recognition comes when we become the Fifty-First State. Unfortunately, I cannot vote for it, but I hope that the right decision is made for the welfare of the residents there, and that they think CONSTRUCTIVELY, WHEN VOTING.......
And, when I went to renew my license, this year, for the FIRST-TIME felt recognized, as a Puerto Rican. Next to my name it stated,: Puerto Rico, (USA) I felt so proud of being a Puerto Rican........and an American, at the same time.
Great story but I feel bad for you that you own a million dollar house in N.Y.C. Inside I am feeling for you, the taxes you have to pay for your property. I'm like "bendita" but kidding aside, great story. NYC is a tough place to make it. Too many people in a small place.
I am very happy to hear from you.......the great part of NYC is that they take a lot of issues into consideration. And in my case, being disabled and retired, has taken my taxes from 20,000 per year, down to $5,000 per year. So I am very happy.......Thank you for answering.......

I was looking for a thread to put this since it deals with a Puerto Rican that will be getting a highranking position outside Puerto Rico. Rather than create a new thread, this thread is the closest to this topic.
The Puerto Rican Juan Carlos Iturreguiis choosen by Joe Biden to be US ambassador to the Dominican Republic. It still needs to be approved by the Senate, but essentially the Senate approves whomever the US president chooses to be an ambassador to somewhere.
