City: Green Valley, AZ
Category: Golf
Telephone: (520) 625-5200
Address: 3233 S. Abrego Dr.

Description: One could say that this course rose out of the ashes like the legendary phoenix. When developers began digging out the course in 1994, they actually uncovered a nearly complete golf course that had been abandoned due to the economic conditions of the early 1980s. Under the dirt was what course developers discovered to be a masterpiece layout by Trevino Designs that needed only an irrigation system and a few refinements. The result is a 165-acre course with a traditional design reminiscent of the PGA Tour courses—the fairways are expansive and considerably wider than most modern golf courses. It stretches along the west bank of the Santa Cruz River and eventually into one of the state’s largest pecan tree orchards. Three lakes add to the beauty and challenges of the par 72 course that plays to 7,000 yards at a rating of 69.9.Annual and seasonal golf memberships are available; fees vary by season and time of day. There’s also a full-service gourmet restaurant, the Abrego Grill. Torres Blancas is located within one of Green Valley’s residential communities, Santa Rita Springs Development on the east side of I-19, and its Mediterranean-style clubhouse with a tower can easily be seen from the highway.
