Description: Dobson Ranch, sequestered in a suburban Mesa neighborhood, rivals Phoenix’s Cave Creek and Papago Park courses as one of the busiest municipal courses in the state. Built in 1972, this 6,593-yard, par-72 course is a traditional, playable, and forgiving course. Dobson Ranch is well groomed with fast, often undulating greens. The layout is open, but the course features many trees to make it more scenic. It’s also an easy course to walk. The eighth hole, sitting next to a creek that runs down the whole right side of the course, is the signature hole. The sloped green of this par-4 hole sits among bunkers on three sides. The course features a golf shop, clubhouse, lessons, putting greens, chipping area, lighted driving range, and sports grill. Greens fees in high season are $31 walking or $43 with a cart. After 10 a.m. you pay less. Juniors under age 17 must walk, and that fee is $8.
