Popular with boaters, this park contains 148 sites for RV and tent camping, some developed and some semi-developed. All sites have covered ramada, picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Developed sites have water and electricity. Rates are $25 nightly. Some primitive camping sites are available for $10 nightly. There is a group campground, but it requires a commitment of 10 units. Two boat launching ramps with restroom facilities are available.

Description: This 22,662-acre park surrounds Lake Pleasant, which was formed when the New Waddell Dam was built to store water brought into Maricopa County by the Central Arizona Project canal. The lake is nearly 10,000 acres and is 225 feet at its deepest point. The park has 2 boat ramps—a 10-lane one at the south end of the lake and a 4-lane boat ramp accessible through the north entrance. Two campgrounds are open for tent or RV camping. Reservations are not accepted for the 148 sites, many of which have electrical and water hookups. Nearby restrooms have showers, and all sites have picnic tables, ramadas, and firepits. Shoreline camping is allowed in the summer and fall months. A Desert Outdoor Center is available for rent. Lake Pleasant is located 20 miles northwest of Phoenix in Peoria. From central Phoenix, take I-17 north to Carefree Highway (AZ 74). Exit Carefree Highway and travel west 15 miles to Castle Hot Spring Road. Head north to the park entrance.
