Description: This retro amusement park with a Christmas theme was established in 1956. Hugging the ankles of Pikes Peak, the quaint layout really does look like a magical winter wonderland, so it’s no surprise USA Today has listed it as one of the nation’s top 10 places for grandparents to take grandkids. Children and their adults flock here to meet Santa Claus, touch the “North Pole” (frozen any time of year), and pet the resident reindeer. They also may take a sky ride, twirl on the whirligig, take a turn on the big Ferris wheel, see a magic show, or brave the haunted house. You can do a little Christmas shopping, even in July! This really is a place for kids 12 and younger—teens will think it’s “lame.”
