Description: If you are up for a 30-minute drive, there’s a world of water waiting at Water World—a kiddie pool with fountains and slides, a wave pool, massive waterslides, and a circular lazy river where you can float peacefully around and around. All-day admission is $33.95 for adults and $28.95 for children no taller than 47 inches.

Description: The 64 acres of water rides and 40 attractions make Water World America’s largest family water park. USA Today rated its Voyage to the Center of the Earth one of America’s top 10 attractions. To get here, take US 36 to the Pecos exit, close to Denver. Turn north (left) and drive until you see those blue canopies on the hilltop. Water World offers several safe introductions to white-water rafting. For those missing surf, Water World’s big wave pools make plenty. Add an entertaining wading area for tots and grade-schoolers, plus many theme rides, and you’ve got wet for kids of all ages. Beach Boys music bops from the loudspeakers. A day of splashing costs $33.95 for individuals taller than 48 inches and $28.95 for those shorter than 47 inches. Tots smaller than 40 inches are admitted free. Water World is open daily in the summer from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting, and accepts major credit cards but no personal checks.
