2. Land Of Nod Winery

City: East Canaan, CT
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (860) 824-5225
Address: 99 Lower Rd.

Description: History is rich at Land of Nod Winery. It is a nationally recognized bicentennial farm, and the family has farmed the land for nine generations. Named for a Robert Louis Stevenson poem, Land of Nod offers an intriguing selection of fruit wines made from berries grown on-site. Their offerings include raspberry wine, a blend of blueberry and raspberry, peach wine, and a delicious chocolate-raspberry dessert wine. They now produce two grape wines: Bianca, a lovely white, and Corot Noir, a deep red with hints of spice. Located up the road (you’ll see it as you drive in) is the Historic Beckley Furnace. Built in 1837, the structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and stands as a reminder of the importance of the iron industry.
