1. Harbor House Inn

City: Old Greenwich, CT
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (203) 637-0145
Address: 165 Shore Rd.

Description: This large Victorian mansion has 23 rooms with 3 suites, and is a 10-minute walk to the beach along Shore Road in Greenwich. All the rooms have private baths, but ask for one with a whirlpool. The lobby with its throne, knight, and grand piano lets you know that you are in for an evening of luxury. The rooms are more simply appointed, but simple in a very good way. The four-poster beds and comfortable chairs throughout the inn ooze relaxation. The inn offers an afternoon tea to guests and bicycles to ride around the flat, tree-lined streets. This is probably your best bet in Greenwich if you have children, but also contains a modern conference room for business travelers.

2. Just Books

Description: This small brick building with its windows filled with staff selections is a local gem dear to the hearts of book-loving Greenwich residents. The knowledgeable staff selections are always right on the money, and they will find out what you like and recommend other books they are sure you’ll enjoy. Because this is Greenwich (let’s face it), Just Books brings in some of the biggest authors in the nation to speak. However, if you’re browsing the small store and wondering where everyone is going to sit, don’t worry. Events are held in a variety of venues around the town. Warren Cassell, the longtime owner, recently passed away, but his love of books lives on in this charming bookshop.
