Description: This charming bed-and-breakfast is in the 1740 house of Captain Josiah Cowles, who supplied the American army with wheat during the Revolution. Today the owners, Mary and David Potter, offer their hospitality just off exit 30 on I-84, in a relaxing setting. There are 2 reasonably priced rooms, both with private baths and some original details from the restored home. The owners will regale you with tales of the Captain, and point out the amazing architecture of this seemingly simple home. You’ll enjoy pancakes in the morning, complete with maple syrup tapped from the trees on the property.

Description: Mount Southington has 14 downhill trails with 5 surface lifts and 2 chairlifts, along with a full ski shop and rental shop. Night skiing is popular here, and the after-work crowd in the winter is fun and raucous. The Mountain Room Restaurant becomes quite popular at this time as well. Snowboarders also love Mount Southington, with its terrain park that includes tabletops, spines, and rails. You can get private lessons and group instruction, as well as participate in the electronically timed courses if you want to learn to race. Snowmaking begins in Dec, so get your skis waxed and get ready to shred those moguls.
