Description: The owner, Kim Beaumont, comes to us from New Zealand, and seems to have been born on a kayak. Like many who come to our shores, she brings optimistic energy, as well as skills to impart, and she is joined by a young and enthusiastic staff of experts. Downunder has paddleboard and kayak rentals, classes, and even more challenging kayak fitness options. They also sponsor races and corporate team-building exercises, and offer overnight camping trips to the Norwalk Islands. Whether you already know how to kayak or want to try it for the first time, go to Downunder. There’s a second location in Westport on the Saugatuck River, which is more protected and is open year-round. So, if you want to kayak in February (and more power to you if you do), you can.
