Description: In the former Willimantic Linen Company, this small museum by the rushing river re-creates the life of mill workers in turn-of-the-20th-century Connecticut. The Dugan Mill building has a variety of exhibits, including an 1880s mill shop floor, carding machine, spinning frame, loom, and textile printer. The other building has a re-creation of the company store, a laborers’ tenement, a mill agent’s mansion, and the 1877 Dunham Hall Library. You can visit Fri through Sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This collection of unique and unusual exhibits is creative and stirring, and will take you back to another time. But not another place. Having the museum set in the actual factory brings us right into the kiln of authenticity.
