Description: This Caribbean-inspired restaurant is run by Chef Cindy Hutson who is well known for her Caribbean restaurants in the city such as Norma’s on the Beach, which was open from 1994 through 1999 and recognized as one of the top of its kind by various prestigious publications. Ortanique has also earned similar credit for its upscale vibe and consistent food; a particular focus on the menu is fish but even those who prefer red meat or are vegetarians will find something they like. Ortanique also has additional locations in Las Vegas’ Paris Hotel and in downtown Washington, D.C. One of the standout appetizers is the Jerk Rubbed Foie Gras, which is served over a warm salad of mâche with crisp potatoes and duck confit topped with burnt orange marmalade and Grand Marnier drizzle. A favorite of Cindy’s four specials is the Pan Seared European Branzino Nicoise with tarragon butter sautéed potatoes and haricot vert topped with house-marinated Kalamata olives and vine-ripe tomatoes drizzled in extra virgin olive oil.
