Description: Thirty years ago, Paul Hoffman Sr. purchased a small candy shop. An accomplished cook, he began experimenting with chocolate, and, lo and behold, his Lake Worth/Greenacres neighbors really liked his creations. Soon Hoffman’s Chocolates became sort of a local legend, and thanks to coverage in national news media such as the Wall Street Journal and Bon Appetit, they were no longer just local. Today, there are four Hoffman’s stores in Palm Beach County, and one in neighboring Martin County, just to the north. The recipes are still guarded closely by the family. Each piece is still hand-made, and people are still coming to watch. This isn’t a factory in the strictest sense; it’s actually the original store. But you can watch the chocolate being made through the observation windows.
