Description: Nothing mysterious about the mission of the Fun Depot. It’s a great place for the whole family. There’s a long list of great attractions here. The big recent news is the addition of The Mezz, a LAN Gaming Center. The Mezz is for serous gamers, the kind of people who could spend hours up here in this room on the second floor. The LAN Center specializes in multi-player video gaming, and you can buy blocks of time, generally by the hour. If you’re looking for a real adrenaline-pumper, try laser tag. You’ll find yourself in a 15-minute game of non-stop action (you snooze, you lose), cavorting (often with kids half your age) in a 4,000-square-foot, black-lit, fog-filled, music-pumping maze, full of people who are trying to tag you (electronically, of course) before you tag them.You can head for the go-kart track, a half-mile oval where the competition is fast and furious. You can test your skill at the batting cages, where a machine will pitch to you at speeds of between 40 and 90 miles an hour. If you’d rather do it a bit more casually, there’s also a softball cage. Back inside, try your luck at the arcade, which has a nice mix of new games and old favorites. You can play basketball against Michael Jordan, dodge the bad guys, win the Olympic high-jump or ski slalom, drive a race car or spaceship, out-swim a shark, and try your luck on a racehorse or slot-machine (tokens, not money!). There’s also a playground for the younger set, with a bounce house and an obstacle course.
