Description: An acute-care hospital, Community Hospital South offers a vast array of surgical capabilities, maternity care, emergency room services, and cardiovascular care. A $130 million expansion currently underway is scheduled to be completed in June 2010. The expansion includes six state-of-the-art operating suites to accommodate all types of surgery and the latest technologies. The project will add 194,000 square feet to the existing structure and will feature a five-story patient tower with all-private patient rooms, creating a healing environment focused on patient safety and quality interactions between caregivers, patients, and families. Existing units are being renovated to complement the new structure, increasing inpatient capacity from 100 private and semiprivate beds to 150 all-private rooms.
