Description: Dedicated in 1908, Methodist Hospital was recognized in 2007 as the top-ranked hospital in the country for quality and safety by University Health Consortium. Methodist is nationally ranked for transplant care, orthopedic services, and urology care and has an award-winning cardiac critical-care unit. Methodist is well known for its excellent Level One Trauma Center, one of only two in the state. In addition, Methodist is a nationally ranked organ transplant center based on total transplant volume (bone marrow, heart, intestine, kidney, liver, lung, and pancreas)—one of only a few centers nationally to have each of these programs certified by Medicare. Methodist has the largest neuroscience critical-care unit in the country and one of the largest critical-care departments in the country. The hospital has specialists on-site 24 hours a day. Methodist offers a nationally ranked urology program and is home to the International Kidney Stone Institute.
