Howl at the Moon - Nightlife - Indianapolis, Indiana

City: Indianapolis, IN
Category: Nightlife
Telephone: (317) 955-0300
Address: 20 E. Georgia St.

Description: Two baby grand pianos are the stars of the show, but audience members usually end up being the scene stealers. Piano players take the stage two at a time, but they aren’t really dueling. They more or less play along with each other and off each other. At the end of an hour, two more players come out and the four do a four-way before the new players take over. At the changeover, other instruments are often added—guitars, drums, and sax. Howl servers get in on the act every hour, too, for the raucous Showtime, when servers lead the diverse audience in loud tunes. A popular spot for bachelorette parties and other celebrations, Howl attracts people of all ages. Be prepared to show two forms of ID and arrive early unless you want to wait outside, where it can become quite cold during Indiana winters. The cover charge runs about $10 on the weekend, with no cover on Tues, $3 on Wed, and $5 on Thurs. Thursdays are free with a college ID, so you know a bunch of students turn out for this one. Buckets of booze are a big hit, with huge slurps of hurricanes, mega-margaritas, and the Howlin’ Punch, consisting of vodka, Cruzan Pineapple Rum, and citrus juice. A complimentary buffet is offered on Fri from 5 to 7 p.m.
