Description: Created by a former waitress and a one-time bartender, Ike and Jonesy’s sports the motto “The fun damn place downtown.” Opened in 1984, Ike and Jonesy’s is named, appropriately enough, after its two creators. The story goes that the two met in college at DePauw University. When the bar where they worked closed for the night, partiers weren’t ready to call it quits, so they would head to Ike and Jonesy’s secret apartment for more late-night merriment. When Ike and Jonesy graduated, they married and decided to start their own bar—just like they remembered from their college days in that after-hours hideaway. Patronized by drinkers of all ages, the place features a live band on Tues and Wed and a DJ on Fri and Sat spinning dance tunes from the ’60s through today. Cover charge on Fri and Sat is $5. Ike and Jonesy’s is also open during Colts Sunday home games. The menu features a larger-than-usual choice of bar food plus steak and chicken dinners and a bunch of beer.
