Description: The only offspring of the legendary St. Elmo Steak House, Harry and Izzy’s is named in honor of St. Elmo’s fathers—Harry Roth and Isadore Rosen. More than a century old, St. Elmo’s is one of a kind. And the chip off the old block doesn’t try to be like daddy. Although it does feature the famed St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail with its spicy fresh horseradish, Harry and Izzy’s has a menu of its own. A light and airy restaurant, Harry and Izzy’s offers fare from burgers to deli corned beef to lamb and veal chops and a huge 14-ounce New York strip steak, rolled in cracked peppercorn, pan seared, and served with a hot and sweet orange brandy butter sauce. Better be hungry when ordering that one. The Garbage Salad is a meal in itself with shrimp, Italian meats, cheese, artichoke, hearts of palm, cucumber, and celery. If there isn’t a Colts game in town, the Sunday brunch served from noon to 3 p.m. has some great stuff, like the banana chocolate walnut French toast with warm maple syrup. The steak and egg wrap is a favorite with filet mignon, eggs, and queso blanco with house-made cilantro salsa.
