Description: Christian Brothers is unique in two ways: It is New Orleans’ only private school for boys exclusively serving the middle grades (fifth through seventh), and it’s the only school located in City Park, tucked amid the park’s centuries-old oaks. The faculty consists of Catholic Christian Brothers as well as lay teachers whose approach is modeled after St. de La Salle, who conceived of education as “a fraternal relationship between the teacher and the student.” The low student-teacher ratio allows educators to take a personal interest in each student, sharing “his interests, his worries, his hopes,” according to a school literature. All applicants must take an entrance exam.
